Mavericks Football Club Competitive Program

Mavericks Football Club offers truly talented youngsters (boys and girls ages 7 and up) the chance to play in the competitive club team environment thru weekly practices, league-play and entry into local tournaments.

Our competitive program provides in-season weekly training (1-2 practices), participation in the Carolina Champions League (weekend games), and opportunity to enter tournaments across the local Charlotte-area, Carolinas, and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost and what is covered?

1

We have two models: Free & “Pay your way”

For U14 and younger age groups our program is FREE!!  The goal of the club is to offer affordable playing opportunities to local youngsters.  Competitive soccer should not be just for those who can afford it.  The following basics are covered:

  • Team training once a week (1.5hrs+, Mondays)

  • League play on weekends in the Carolina Champions League (www.championsleaguenc.com)

  • Fun Fridays (when offered).

The only item we asked players/families to cover is their uniform (~$105).

For U15 and older age groups we have “pay your way” model, where players/families are responsible for covering “any costs” to rent fields for practices, league registration. We keep costs low, and average cost per year is below $600.

Uniforms costs are also incurred by each player/family in this model (~$105).

How is this possible?

2

Hard work and generosity. We have a dedicated group of parents and volunteers who focus on helping to raise funds for the club. As a small club, focused on the youngest age groups, we are able to be flexible, and we also are extremely picky about the costs associated with the program, and limit them wherever possible. The current directors and coaching staff are all heavily involved in the local adult soccer scene and receive tremendous support for their efforts in giving back to the community

What is the time committment?

3

Time is valuable, and family time even moreso. Soccer should not be all encompassing at this age. By joining the Mavericks competitive teams, you are committing to just one night per week of formal team training (currently Mondays from 5:30-7pm and 7-8:30pm) as well as local league games on weekends in the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. You then have optional training nights and pick-up soccer opportunities on Friday evenings. There will be additional opportunities for extra training and tournaments / friendlies, as desired, but not required.
